5 Best Ads for Diwali 2021

Diwali is a special occasion, which is celebrated across India and the world. The "Festival Of Lights" brings all family members together to make the event memorable and unique.

You will also find your TV screen bombarded with various Diwali-related advertisements about clothes, jewelry, food, and other things. Even though these ads are created to encourage you to spend your money, not all of them.

You will surely come across some advertisements that carry messages that are worth taking note of. Here, in this article, you will learn about some unique and beautiful ads that you must take a look at this year's Diwali. So, let's dig in.

1. Amazon – This Diwali, Let's #DeliverThatLove!

This particular advertisement from Amazon is worth watching this Diwali 2021. It's pretty meaningful, and the ad celebrates the familial bonds that people make when they are far away from home, along the way as everyone lives their lives. The ad shows that a mother and son duo drive 50km together to deliver a very special family. The teen son doesn't show much interest when it comes to delivering one specific gift. But in the end, his mother's insistence leads towards an unexpected but joyful reunion. The advertisement is meaningful as it helps in teaching a valuable lesson.

2. Vivo – Celebrate The #JoyofHomecoming!

Vivo has always been unique and outstanding when it came to making advertisements for festivals or other events. But the company's Diwali advertisement features Kanwaljit Singh, who suffers from the empty nest syndrome. He also plays the father of three children. In the advertisement, Kanwaljit Singh is forced to reside within a massive mansion with empty rooms as the moment with all his three children becomes limited through the video calls. This particular advertisement is pretty emotional, and it will surely bring tears into your eyes.

3. RealMe - #HopeForGreatThings

Losing someone close to you and with whom you have so many memories can be heartbreaking. This advertisement from RealMe is all about that. The ad shows a young boy who mourns the loss of his grandfather, with whom he shares a unique and special bond. He completely withdraws into himself, but his Diwali ends on a high note thanks to some unexpected turn of events. The concept of the ad is surely emotional, and it's currently one of the best ads that you must watch this Diwali.

4. Eicher Trucks And Buses – Yaaron Ki Diwali

This advertisement from Eicher Trucks and Buses is educational and informative. The advertisement is a way through which it weaves friendship into an individual's journey on the highway. The advertisement completely discourages drunk driving so that the chances of accidents don't take place when people drive on the highway. The advertisement carries a lot of meaning behind its existence, and its ideal for those individuals who frequently travel on a highway.

5. Vodafone – Never Alone

Spending Diwali alone can be pretty boring and saddening at the same time. But you will not feel that way to anyone if you watch this advertisement from Vodafone, which the company made especially for Diwali. The advertisement shows that no matter where you are, you can still get the chance to celebrate Diwali with your loved ones through Vodafone. This advertisement is filled with happiness, and you will surely like it once you watch it.

Final Thoughts

You will surely come across many Diwali-related advertisements on television and the Internet, but the ones mentioned in this article are worth checking out. They are informative, educational, emotional, and do teach something pretty meaningful. Make sure to check out these advertisements and make your Diwali a unique one.

Talk to me

Regardless of how you feel and believe, the amount of communication, verbal and written has come down drastically, thanks to the modern tech facilitators. Look what I found online.

The time spent on sharing a few things with the people you love to care about is more worth than the time spent in messaging, texting and drafting emails. No communication, nothing can replace the joy in listening to someone's voice and take off the pain, burden, double the excitement in happiness than when you do it personally.

Here is a chance to test it yourself. Today, call someone you know and have been communicating via the electronic mode and speak to them and see how it feels. Especially the family.

The same applies to your customer.

A part of India's life for 100 years

Understanding consumer psyche is a tough job. Like I always say, understanding consumer is the most important person in any business. Collecting consumer insights and using them to get in to your consumer's head to tweak your message to meet their expectations and understanding what they would like to see is very important. Nestle is one of the brands that managed this successfully over a long period of time. The latest ad that the brand floated is one of the best and most compelling that I have seen in a long time. Watch the advertisement and add this to your consumer behaviour notes or consumer behaviour in marketing and their implications in marketing strategy.

So Nestle comes up with this ad which traces the important moments in Indian history. It is very nostalgic, communicates the greatness of our nation with historic references to show that they have been a part of our culture, our memories and have been there always. Brilliant concept. Very easily one of the best advertisements for 2015 from the grand old Nestle.

Social Media Leader of the Year

The new age marketing has been redefined by the social media interface. The amount of time people spend on social media is amazing or in other words overwhelming. Managing a brand's presence online and offline is a tough job and gets more difficult when you are pitted against the best in the business - clientele. In this context, this comes as a blessing and recognition to the hours spent in achieving what we wanted. A big shout out to my team, family and friends. Thank you.

I won the Social Media Leader of the Year award at the 'National Awards for Excellence in Digital Marketing and Social Media'. Some of the pictures from the event.

Monday Blues: Keep it simple

While making presentations, either on paper or online, we tend to spend more time on the design, fonts and illustrations and often tend to ignore the power of content on the audience. This is usually the case when we are early up in the career or new to computers. While we explore a lot of this stuff which is supposed to make it 'cool', we need to realize the power of content.

The power of content is huge and there are chances that your presentation or way of communication like body language might be communicating something entirely different from what you want to say. So today my advice to you as a part of the Monday Blues series is to KISS. Keep it simple. Simple is beautiful, realistic and natural. Simple is a solution.

Pic is from here.

Stay behind the curtain

Let the consumer or your client be in front of the camera. Move back and hide behind the curtain, especially when you are doing well. Come out and stand out in the open and defend yourself, or face the heat when you aren't doing well.

While BMW is doing a great job in creating the best cars and a superb consumer satisfaction and impressive ad campaigns, I loved it when it was subtle and the brand chose to showcase their best bet till now - Sachin Tendulkar. I love the ad for a simple reason that I couldn't skip it!

It is simple, clean and crisp and damn! Sachin looks comfortable in front of the camera and the journey and admiration seems mutual. Good job BMW. By moving behind the screen and leting your work talk, you are hitting the right notes and we love it.

Tell me about me

Every great marketing plan that worked, worked because it spoke about me and me alone. Not about how your product was created after great research and how it is going to be great in future. It worked because it might do something for me - fulfil a need, provides comfort, make a change that I want to and so on.

If you are a marketer, come to me with a campaign that aims at making me realize what I value, win me over with a story of how I am great (Perfumes, apparel, fashion...), why my beliefs are true (Baby products, investment options, real estate, etc.) and why my fanatic apprehensions are true (Termites, insurance, cavities in teeth and so on) and it might work most of the time.

If you are a buyer, see through the message and see if it actually is useful for you and see if I am being honest and then decide on the buy. I am a marketer, your job is to make my job tougher :)

Consumers... Behave!

You might say the service is bad, or the waiter should be more responsive or they should anticipate. I only agree on the word - anticipate. This is a beautiful contrast int he last 10 years that we didn't see seeping through. Wonderful read and some of us might be more considerate with what we do and how we behave as a customer in the shop. This is taken from The Meta Picture.

What does your closet tell about you?

You don't keep items or create clutter.
You keep memories.
But shouldn't some of them be let gone?
What is the psychology behind keeping things? Is it just a part of out psyche which goes back to our gathering days (in the scientific evolution theory way)?

Or it is that we know that something might come up? Did you try giving away somethings and see how it works? Is it true that it liberates and changes your attitude towards life?

I am really excited in this field and am checking some publications and see what I found out in Wall Street Journal's website. What does your closet tell about you?

Open with a twist

Very rarely I am surprised by the ads that come out. Coke has one team that continues to amaze me with their creativity and charm. I like the way the team at Coke thinks outside the given arena of marketing and sales and moves on to branding. Here is one more example to see how you can overcome simple communications problem that many of us have gone through during campus initiations in college. Good job Coke.

The 9 mantras of Modi’s spectacular success

If Narendra Modi has made it to 7, Race Course Road, it is a triumph not only of strategy and commitment, but of the basic management and marketing principles that his campaign embraced.

Right from the outset, the party under Modi set itself stretch targets – which focused the efforts of all the stakeholders to one central objective: Mission 272+. This was the ultimate goal of getting the BJP a majority of its own even while focusing on building the right alliances in the right states and voter niches. Equally important, the BJP was a perfectly aligned force from teeth to tail – from the one leader (Modi) who led the fight from the front, to the last karyakarta, the BJP and RSS foot soldiers, who felt they had a personal stake in this election.

When there is such an alignment from top to bottom, it is no surprise that the end-results have been so gratifying. The chemistry between top and bottom was electrifying. Unlike the Congress, where the bosses kept themselves cocooned and the workers ran a disprited campaign, in the BJP the boss led from the front – driving the enthusiasm of the cadre.

The boss put in a grueling 20-hour day, cross-crossing addressing over 450 rallies in a few months, and addressing even larger audiences with his unique 3D projection technology which enabled him to be in several places at the same time. In the run-up to the election, we had run a story on the management lessons we could learn from Modi’s campaign. It is worth recalling it again in the context of the success of the BJP and Modi today (16 May). These are some of the things one can learn from the success of the Modi juggernaut.

Modi’s march to 7, Race Course Road, is now a case study on how to uses the rules of management and marketing to lead and win.

1. Declare your ambitions and goals clearly
2. Set stretch targets and align your entire team to the final goal
3. Bbreak the final target personal targets into a set of smaller targets and milestones
4. Demonstrate strength, then invite stakeholders
5. Eliminate doubters and bring in team players
6. Plan meticulously and in detail
7. Set the agenda and keep control
8. Attack the enemy where he is weak
9. Never play to your weakness

The six types of Twitter conversations

Read a wonderful article here about twitter conversations and thought you would love it.

Twitter can sometimes seem like an endless universe where messages and conversations burn brightly for a short while and then float off into oblivion.
Leave it to the Pew Research Center to find meaning in the madness.
In a recent graphic, the research giant illustrates that, despite Twitter's vastness, there are really just six types of conversations that occur on the platform. Here's a brief description of each:
1. Divided: This conversation type references different groups of Twitter users who discuss polarizing topics. Users in one group rarely talk with users in an opposing group. Think politics.
2. Unified: Unified conversations occur within close communities, like those formed around hobbies, professional organizations or conference attendees. Users connect with each other to swap information and ideas.
3. Fragmented: The conversations around products and celebrities are fragmented-the people who follow these topics are large and very different from each other.
4. Clustered: Global news events set off many small and medium-sized clusters of conversations. These clusters usually form around various news sources, and don't interact with other clusters.
5. In-hub and spoke: News outlets and pundits often spark these conversations. The discussions largely consist of users retweeting the news outlet or pundit.
6. Out-hub and spoke: These conversations happen when organizations use their Twitter profiles for customer service issues. The organization (hub) sends messages to disconnected users (spokes).

Look at the graphic for more on each conversation type:

There are ads and then there are brilliant ads. Here is a masterpiece I found on twitter shared by Brilliant Ads. True it is a masterpiece and I am really impressed. Here are some takeaways from this success story.
  1. It is simple
  2. Calls for an action
  3. Combines a simpler physical action with a fun to do task
  4. Gives you the psychological push that consumer psyche craves for
  5. Gives you the choice and control

Cook yourself to keep your family healty

Renowned activist and author Michael Pollan argues that cooking is one of the simplest and most important steps people can take to improve their family's health, build communities, fix our broken food system, and break our growing dependence on corporations. The event was chaired by Tim Lang, professor of Food Policy at City University London.

Key Points in the Video
  • Poor women who cook have healthier diets than wealthy women who don’t cook.
  • In America, rates of home cooking have decreased 50% since the mid-60s.
  • On average in America, we spend 27 minutes cooking per day, and 4 minutes cleaning up (which means it’s probably fast food — who can do dishes and scrub pots and pans in 4 minutes?).
  • To be healthy, eat anything you want, just cook it yourself.

Trusting your gut?

Most marketers in the US are trusting their gut to determine the marketing spends finds out a survey. And the importance of using data is growing. Hail marketers.

There is a growing awareness of the need to use data in decision-making. According to the Adobe survey, which was conducted by ResearchNow, 39% of respondents used consumer data and behavior more last year to shape their marketing strategies. A larger share – 45% – hope to rely more on these data in the coming year. What’s more, 76% of marketers agreed that they need to be more data-focused to succeed.

Not surprisingly, those respondents from companies with high digital spend (25% of their budgets) are more likely than those from companies with low digital spend.
There seems to be a consensus among marketers that they need to reinvent themselves to succeed, particularly as the vast majority believe that marketing is undergoing a revolution. But few of those who want to reinvent their role know how to go about doing so. Part of embracing a new approach to marketing also involves experimentation, and 54% of respondents believe that the ideal marketer should take more risks. That risk-taking extends to new technologies, but marketers were twice as likely to agree that they are more comfortable adopting new technologies once they become mainstream (65%) they they were to agree that they make use of new technology even before it’s proven (31%).
With that in mind, some 6 in 10 hope to try more new things (59%) and learn new skills (58%) in the coming 12 months, while half are looking to experiment more and test and evolve their marketing strategies. Perhaps most significantly, while only 29% took more risks last year, 45% hope to this year.
The online survey was conducted February 19-27, 2014 by ResearchNow among 1,004 US marketers. The results have a margin of error at the 95% confidence level, for the total sample, of +/-3.1%. Some 465 companies had high digital spend, while 153 had low digital spend.

Talk to your children

What marketing or marketers are teaching your kids today?

As a marketer, I am more inclined to ads that appeal and show how my product will solve your problem and how it is better. So all my communique is a result of such actions that trigger the need in you. Would I or any other marketer think otherwise when sending out the message? I don't think so. Because it is a tough world out there and not all are as lucky to have their own sweet time unless you are too high up in the organization or in a company that believes in responsible advertising.

As a parent I am on conflict and cynical about how I can reduce the unwanted content that my child is exposed to and forced to form opinions that are difficult and dangerous. I don't want my child to grow in that atmosphere. But can you or I actually control what they see? I don't think so. Children are being exposed to malicious content more easily these days and more importantly at a much younger age than you and me. So I would find time to be with my child and explain that it is important to look past the marketing or advertising gimmick and see the actual message. Explain why it is important to verify the claims, research the ingredients, look beyond the paid blogs, articles and huge mass of unrealistic content. More importantly I would teach her to respect her body and who she is.

And I would try and make a positive contribution to the marketing arena in whatever small way I can to make sure she grows up and is proud of what ads I am involved in. Would you?

Balanced ad by Volvo

Volvo comes out with an iconic ad to show off their stability and I love it. It is simple, path breaking and easy to understand while stressing on its principles - life is full pf potholes, ditches and problems but you can build up a body to perfection and then win over all the obstacles.

Life is more valuable when you are passing through troubles as you build the most important element  then - character. Van Damme just blends in. Good job Volvo!

25 of the most ridiculous client comments according to creatives

Most of the things I have said, heard and this is just fabulous!

Sometimes clients can be a real nightmare, no matter which your occupation is, you are probably struggling everyday against the obtuseness of some clients.

However, the kind of professions that historically catalyze the biggest number of incredibly stubborn and unreasonable clients are the creative ones. In particular we should give credit to graphic designers and art directors for their legendary patience.
For this reason Irish graphic designers Mark Shanley and Paddy Treacy created Sharp Suits, a website that features the worst comments made by creatives’ clients and showcases them into graphically appealing posters. The creators of this website teamed up with other creatives and turned their frustration into these hilarious yet beautiful artworks.
The posters featured on Sharp Suits were also exhibited in The Little Green Cafe Bar and Gallery last year, and the customers were allowed to purchase an A3 copy of their favorite artwork. The earnings were donated to the Temple Street Child Hospital.
You can admire below our 25 favorite picks. Don’t forget to take a look at sharpsuits.net to watch all the posters of the series.
