5 Best Ads for Diwali 2021

Diwali is a special occasion, which is celebrated across India and the world. The "Festival Of Lights" brings all family members together to make the event memorable and unique.

You will also find your TV screen bombarded with various Diwali-related advertisements about clothes, jewelry, food, and other things. Even though these ads are created to encourage you to spend your money, not all of them.

You will surely come across some advertisements that carry messages that are worth taking note of. Here, in this article, you will learn about some unique and beautiful ads that you must take a look at this year's Diwali. So, let's dig in.

1. Amazon – This Diwali, Let's #DeliverThatLove!

This particular advertisement from Amazon is worth watching this Diwali 2021. It's pretty meaningful, and the ad celebrates the familial bonds that people make when they are far away from home, along the way as everyone lives their lives. The ad shows that a mother and son duo drive 50km together to deliver a very special family. The teen son doesn't show much interest when it comes to delivering one specific gift. But in the end, his mother's insistence leads towards an unexpected but joyful reunion. The advertisement is meaningful as it helps in teaching a valuable lesson.

2. Vivo – Celebrate The #JoyofHomecoming!

Vivo has always been unique and outstanding when it came to making advertisements for festivals or other events. But the company's Diwali advertisement features Kanwaljit Singh, who suffers from the empty nest syndrome. He also plays the father of three children. In the advertisement, Kanwaljit Singh is forced to reside within a massive mansion with empty rooms as the moment with all his three children becomes limited through the video calls. This particular advertisement is pretty emotional, and it will surely bring tears into your eyes.

3. RealMe - #HopeForGreatThings

Losing someone close to you and with whom you have so many memories can be heartbreaking. This advertisement from RealMe is all about that. The ad shows a young boy who mourns the loss of his grandfather, with whom he shares a unique and special bond. He completely withdraws into himself, but his Diwali ends on a high note thanks to some unexpected turn of events. The concept of the ad is surely emotional, and it's currently one of the best ads that you must watch this Diwali.

4. Eicher Trucks And Buses – Yaaron Ki Diwali

This advertisement from Eicher Trucks and Buses is educational and informative. The advertisement is a way through which it weaves friendship into an individual's journey on the highway. The advertisement completely discourages drunk driving so that the chances of accidents don't take place when people drive on the highway. The advertisement carries a lot of meaning behind its existence, and its ideal for those individuals who frequently travel on a highway.

5. Vodafone – Never Alone

Spending Diwali alone can be pretty boring and saddening at the same time. But you will not feel that way to anyone if you watch this advertisement from Vodafone, which the company made especially for Diwali. The advertisement shows that no matter where you are, you can still get the chance to celebrate Diwali with your loved ones through Vodafone. This advertisement is filled with happiness, and you will surely like it once you watch it.

2010 Best of the Best Survey

The latest survey released by luxury business site, Hurun Report, looks at the brands and places patronized by China’s richest people.

The 2010 Best of the Best Survey was based on the answers of 383 mainland Chinese millionaires with assets worth at least RMB10 million with 66 of those people surveyed having assets of at least RMB100 million.

Between April and November 2009, Hurun Report surveyed 383 Mainland Chinese millionaires, each with an asset of at least RMB 10 million (USD1.5 million). Among them 66 people have assets of at least RMB 100 million (USD 15 million). For the sixth year running, surveys were carried out on a one on one basis, making this the largest and most authoritative survey of its kind in China. The survey asked respondents for their ‘Preferred Brand’ from an alphabetical list of brands in each category together with an ‘Other’ option at the end for brands not covered in the list. For the Best Overall Luxury Brand, the question was open-ended. There were no options. The winner for each category was the brand with the most votes. Results compiled by Maxshare.

Steve vs 3Gs

When personalities overshadow brand its not good always. Like it was felt/seen/heard at the launch of iPhone 3Gs. Expectations had been high that the ailing Apple CEO would make a surprise reappearance at his company's World Wide Developers Conference, which kicked off Monday with an address by Senior Vice President of Marketing Phil Schiller in San Francisco. Schiller introduced a third-generation iPhone, which has faster, more capable software and more memory, as well as surprisingly deep price cuts for Apple hardware and software.

But it was Jobs, who hasn't been seen in public since making a shockingly gaunt appearance last September, who was eagerly awaited by the tech world and who failed to materialize. It is tough to think Apple would have the same following, leave alone the share prices, without Steve returning healthy. People want to him to win over his ailments come back stronger. Hope he does. Steve is a bigger brand than Apple now. Or should I call him its anchor? Get well soon Steve.

The blinking game

The game is very simple. Who would blink first? The customer or the firm is the question.  If the time is the deciding factor the firm has to bow to the market conditions. After all we live in almost free competition where the buyer has almost equal control over the brand as the firm itself.

The retail sector saw a disheartening December quarter, with a sharp deceleration in sales growth and a contraction in profits. Sales growth for the quarter slid to 15 per cent, from 65 and 61 per cent respectively in the preceding September and June quarters. Though sales did expand, net profits fell by more than half, after declining 15 per cent in September and growing 8 per cent in June.

Even as footfalls declined and retailers scaled-back expansion plans, same-store sales (sales in the stores that existed last year) succumbed to the slowdown. Retailers had to extend discount periods to draw consumers. So the firm is blinking first. The consumer has an upper hand here. Either the firm reduces the prices or withers out. It depends on how deep the firm's resources are and what choice it would make.

Bush - Obama

Bush to Obama. Did something change? The similarity is striking. This is a Tee design and works anti-clockwise. Obamania has an unprecedented  market that is estimated to be worth $100 million. The items range from coins, plates, bath and bed linen, buttons and so on. This is only a 'seasonal' purchase and goes waste once the fad declines.

Dark Chocolate!

Encouraged by antioxidant health claims and its sophisticated adult perception, many more consumers are embracing dark chocolate. With major confectionery players extending their countlines to include a dark variant, research published in 2006 estimated that the UK dark chocolate market will double in size by 2010. To tap into the market’s growth and profitability, Cadbury briefed Design Bridge to maximise the potential of its 100-year-old Bournville brand: stable, familiar and trusted but dated and with an older consumer base.

The contemporary solution includes a spontaneous chocolate-coloured splash on Bournville’s trademark red. Bournville’s stylishly extrovert personality is reinforced by the new Deeply Dark sub-brand, which connects with younger consumers. Design Bridge has managed to reinvent our grandparents’ favourite brand whilst reinforcing its ability to meet today’s lifestyle choices, a century since entering the market.

The symbol of liberty

Obama or McCain? It must have been decided by now. American president represents more than a president of a nation. Hope this will be good one this time.

A lot of responsibility awaits this time. A fallen image due to Iraq, Afghanistan, economy in tatters and many more. Too much of media observation, critics, advisors, many expectations.

A leader needs to be a good communicator, of his ideals, goals, passions and dreams and make his team, his nation, his tribe follow and feel the same. Does your team think on your lines? Do they believe in you?

If yes good, if not what should you do?

Where'z the stuff?

Titan has joined hands with WWF (World Wildlife Fund) and has come out with unisex watches. The range includes six unisex watches with emblems representing some of India's endangered species such as the tiger, Indian rhino, Gangetic river dolphin, red panda, whale shark and the Oliver Ridley turtle.

With every Titan-WWF watch purchased, Titan will contribute Rs150 to WWF towards its efforts of the conservation of their natural habitat. Every watch in the collection captures the strength and beauty of each of these magnificent animals. Priced between Rs3,000 and Rs3,800 and presented in 13 different styles, these watches would be available at all 'World of Titan' showrooms, multi-brand outlets and various malls across the country from 12th September, 2008.

I am particularly interested in the one that has 'The Tiger' and sought to buy it but the manager at Titan World at Jayanagar 4th block tells me that the watches have not come to Bangalore. I search for it on the Internet and find nothing at the website. You tube has the launch video, Google has a news item relating to it here but otherwise nothing from the brand that would help me in locating it! I make a few calls and then find out that the model is available at the showroom in Mumbai.

3 things make you a marketing genius: A great product/idea, great communication informing the existence of the product to the target customer, and the delivery. Titan messed up in the delivery part. Will I wait? May be I will but many wont.

Agressive Abhinav

Does this sound like an oximoron. May be. Read on...

A dozen security guards, meticulous verification of visitors and a 500-yard drive to a palatial farmhouse brings you to the plush environs where India's sole Olympic gold medallist has been groomed. Abhinav Bindra is waiting in the drawing room, casually dressed and composed as usual. The champion is apprehensive about 'another interview' but gets down to it anyway. Excerpts...

Have you been approached by any corporates for endorsements?

No corporates have approached me as of now. But I'm open to the idea.

People spoke of your Zen-like calm after winning the gold. Are you into meditation?

I think shooting itself is such a meditative sport that you don't need to practice any other meditation. As for my calm, I am like that only. I don't make a drama of things. And the moment of victory was so fleeting that I was sucked up in it.

Don't you think you should have stuck on in Beijing to cheer other Indian participants?

If I were there, I would have become the centre of attraction. They all deserve their moments of glory. And what could have I done there? I can't coach boxers and wrestlers; I can't give them tips. In fact, I had decided much earlier that once my job was over, I'd be back home.

Un-Rahmanic

We all know how good Rahman is at surprising and touching your chords when it comes to music.

17 years later what has Rahman got up his sleeve? Can he surprise me again with his freshness? May be Yes. But I bet many of his listeners would be able to make out a Rahman song in whatever language it is. This particular song, Kabhi Kabhi Aditi..., from JTJN is not the same. Listeners cannot guess it to be from Rahman. Its good but its fresh, breaks the clutter and Rahman has created a song which is Un-Rahmanic and succeded in winning the audience.

Any Brand will succeed in gaining more land if it can move on and win more hearts, fans and create a fresh image in the consumer's psyche. Rahman is too good at it.

To stick or not to stick?

Sachin and Pepsi have separated. Period.

What does this tell you? Was Sachin pushed over other younger players by Pepsi? Does it mean his Brand image, value and sense are no longer appealing? I don't think so.

Sachin has been choosy about the brand he endorses and has a good team that decides. To think Sachin has no backup plan is silly. The question is what would happen is Sachin moved over to the other brand. I feel Sachin would be able to bring in more customers to the brand that when its without him. The reason is that the beverages as a product is a low involvement product and people don't ask for a brand and don't stop consuming other brand just because someone endorses it or has ceased to do so. But if I am selecting a 1.5 litre bottle I would love to have Sachin's pic on it. Let me be clear here I am no fanatic fan of Sachin.

I remember reading this is 'Cricket Talk'. Sachin was travelling on a jet back to India from South Africa tour. He was offered a soft drink in a glass by the air hostess. Before consuming Sachin asked if this was Pepsi to which the reply was Coke. Sachin put the glass back on the tray and asked for Pepsi and the reply was there was no Pepsi on board. Sachin smiled and asked for plain water. An elderly gentleman was sitting two rows behind him and having observed this went and asked him why he did this to which Sachin said, "I am the Brand Ambassador of Pepsi and so I shouldn't!" Sachin received a revised royalty option 2 days after he landed. Surprised Sachin's office called up Pepsi. The elderly gentleman on the flight was the Senior Vice President of Pepsi! That he does when he no one is observing him!

If this is the loyalty he shows I think he can sell any brand.
One of the reasons sachin has been around for a long time is in his ability to push himself beyond what is his limit, in his ability to readjust, realign and refocus. It is something incredible, and hence I am just waiting to see someone capitalize on his brand.

Just imagine Sachin dressed in red on a Coke bottle, or in Orange for Tropicana, or even a new Sachin flavor!

The Power of Apology

Pope Benedict XVI has apologized. Does it undo what was done? Does it remove the pain and the scar? I don't think so. It sure removes the pain but the scar remains and reminds.

When you are sure that the customer is pained by what you/your product might have done the best thing is to apologize. Now some feel apology is not needed.

I think apology goes a building the brand value, its credibility and tenor. When you acknowledge that you have done something wrong and want to correct it people trust you more and would like to give you a chance. After all don't we all falter?

Now does it end with an apology? No apologize and repair!

What to Project?

Brands should know which USP they should use and when. The audience, time, place, culture and many other things matter. In the Hulk 2 the hero has a challenge: His normal self or the Hulk? Despite being very powerful he has to use the amount of power only when needed.

The Samsung Experience

At Samsung we went to buy a TV. Look at the following observations.

+ve:
  • Huge choice
  • Spacious showroom
  • Very helpful, knowledgable salesmen (about 4 ppl around us when we were choosing)
  • Good price
  • Nice ambience

-ve:

  • Lot of delay in making the bill
  • Credit card machince not working
  • Five forms to fill! (It took a good thirty minutes)
  • No option to deliver the TV home
  • No salesmen interested in us after the sale

Having a good showroon and stock does not invite the customers retracing their steps. The small things you do to ensure the customer is happy when leaving.

Always Close Strong. It is as important as Opening Strong.

Choice @ Amore

Speak of choice and you need to see this ice cream shop. What I observed was strange some people walked away when they couldn't get a particular flavor. What does this tell you?

You need to know what to fill your shelves. Mere choice is not OK!

Brand DHL

Singapore will soon be home to a new $2 million attraction. Considered the world's largest tethered balloon, it will be inflated on Wednesday night. It may seem like a strange sight - 40 grown men and women fussing over layers of what looks like plastic. But more than 12 hours of hard work later, it will morph into what's called "The DHL Balloon."

Cleared by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore to fly 40 storeys high, the balloon will start taking passengers. At $23 for a 10-minute ride for adults, and $13 for children, passengers will be sent floating up into the air on a balcony. They will have a 360-degree panoramic view of the Singapore skyline. Some 250,000 people are expected to take to the skies in its first year, generating some $3 million in tourist receipts.

Manufactured in France, this balloon system is the only one of its kind approved and certified as an aircraft.

The Need For Choice

Everyone knows you can’t have all. But the point is how much you are offered. The retailers should keep this in mind. Look at this pic from Candy Bar at Ohri's Banjara. So many chocolates and so many flavors. Kids have a tough time deciding what to take.

In a retail format the decoration, style, look and feel, the options and variety you provide differentiate your store from others. You need to meet the customer’s expectations, choices, whims and fancies. The more the choice the more chance for the customers to walk in.

Brand Conflict?

If the brand is not famous then you need to concentrate on the use or benefit to the viewer. But if the brand is famous then you can sell the brand. The one on the left has bigger brand name and smaller letters. The right ad shows the reverse. Initially you may need to use a combination or need to right concoction.

Remember Shobhaa De's book cover where the font of her name was larger than the title of the book?

Pics of these billboards taken were on Mint road, Hyderabad
