Add a memory

Yatrigan krupaya dhyan de... and the lady went on to announce the arrival of our train in three languages. We were going on a trip to Shimoga for Santu's engagement. After a long tiring day at work, I pulled myself up to the task of hand holding two kids and a big bag to board the train. A few minutes of chit chatting and coffee, chips and good nights, all went to sleep. I sat at the window looking outside. Thinking.

The hands of the watch on my hand seemed to slow down to a rhythmic din moving only to remind themselves that life is going on. The lady in the opposite seat was looking at me with a weird smile on her face. Face dabbed in talcum powder, her oiled hair wound up in a knot with jasmine flowers and a tired look which lit up every tome her iPhone came to life and she typed away a reply. Not less than 35 she looked traditional till I saw her iPhone and with the ease she operated touch screen. We are the only ones alive and busy punching the keys on our mobiles and hence the smile. The train reached some station and I look out of the window again.

The announcement is made and we move. Strange ways life has! Elongated concrete platforms, decked up TV screens, people selling all sorts of things from papers, pins, water, fans to food. People arriving and parting, hugging and seeing off! Tears, frustration, anxiety, fear, urgency and what not. Everything is in motion but the train. Some pick up luggage and run up the stairs to some other platform. Some wait patiently. Some check every train. Some are seriously discussing topics like they would save the world. A group of college something students are in a huddle laughing. A old lady with her husband is in tow with a bag bigger than her slowly walking on the platform. A young couple walk jestfully across with their kid in pram. An old tramp spreads papers on the floor preparing to sleep with a wicked satisfied grin. A kid tries to sell me Femina and brush at the window. A beggar with a baby, about two months old, looks pleading. A couple of people smoking! Wasn't smoking in railway stations banned? Coolies hurrying with huge bags lifted effortlessly snaking through the crowd while the owner in question is a 20 something girl in tight jeans, tee, iPod, sneakers and sipper struggles to stay up. All varieties and brands are here, I mean of people!

Luggage! Have you ever observed the luggage possible? All brands, cost segments, classes! Cloth bags, gunny bags, plastic covers with all sorts of branding, name tags from some decade old flight, hand bags of all shapes and sizes, colors, new ones, old ones, repaired ones, and ones that are bad in shape, costly ones, home made and what not! I try and relate the baggage to the person and see if they match. Most times it does but not always. Strange are the ways of life. As we move out of the station all the sights look awesome. The train picks up speed and life's glimpses make me feel light.

The moon is full bright and shining coolly on the landscape bringing the night to pass. Angel of sleep descends and brings all to rest. A distant flock of birds fly furiously back home to their nests taking food for their babies. Down, on the road, a group of tired looking people wait for the train to pass, engines running, hoping and may be planning for the reaction when they reach home or for tomorrow. A home perched in a field. A long line of trucks parked around a dhaba. Lonely dark river winding like a snake. A watchman fully asleep unperturbed by the train's noise, hustling trees and howling wind.

"Can you pull down the window please?"

I come back from my imagination and look at her.

'Sure.'

I pull down the glass so I can still see.

'I am Shravya,' she said sitting up, gearing up to chat.

I maintain a disinterested face and muttered, 'Good night,' pulled my bed sheet over my face and slept.

No ways :) ! We chatted for four hours till early dawn. Well... that is another story. Life is a journey. You can always make it a memory or simply travel. I add a memory and make it awesome :)

Clear away the cobwebs

The sun'll come out, tomorrow,
Bet your bottom dollar, that tomorrow,
There'll be sun,

Just thinkin' about, tomorrow,
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow, till' there's none,

When I'm stuck with a day, that's grey and lonely,
I just stick out my chin, and grin, and say,

Oh, the sun'll come out tomorrow,
So you gotta' hang on till' tomorrow,
Come what may.

Tomorrow tomorrow, I love you tomorrow,
Your'e only a day away,

The sun'll come out, tomorrow,
Bet your bottom dollar, that tomorrow,
There'll be sun,

Just thinkin' about, tomorrow,
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow, till' there's none,

When I'm stuck with a day, that's grey and lonely,
I just stick out my chin, and grin, and say,

Oh, the sun'll come out tomorrow,
So you gotta' hang on till' tomorrow,
Come what may.

Tomorrow tomorrow, I love you tomorrow,
Your'e always a day away,

Tomorrow tomorrow, I love you tomorrow,
Your'e only a day away,

The sun'll come out, tomorrow,
Bet your bottom dollar, that tomorrow,
There'll be sun,

Just thinkin' about, tomorrow,
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow, till' there's none,

When I'm stuck with a day, that's grey and lonely,
I just stick out my chin, and grin, and say,

Oh, the sun'll come out tomorrow,

Come what may.

Tomorrow tomorrow, I love you tomorrow,
Your'e always a day away,

Tomorrow tomorrow, I love you tomorrow,

Raavan

Raavan is released and is all set to become one of the biggest blockbusters of all times for it has all the elements needed to become one. Mani Ratnam, Shyam Kaushal, A R Rahman, the Bachchan ensemble, Gulzar and a lot of hype, PR and what not.

An interesting debate is about whom we would be primarily watching? Abhishek or Vikram. Most of the people I have seen are voting for Vikram, for better acting(?), experience and raw passion that is expected of the role. Poor Abhishek seems to be long way down the class in comparison. That's bad news for him and good for Vikram. Now that is a southside view and hopefully it differs as we go north. Good luck to the team of Raavan and here are 10 reasons why you should watch it. Anyone from the north, chip in with your views.

Brands losing in comparison have to be careful as to what they are being associated with. Being asociated with less mature equals less trust which translates to less chances of me, the consumer, picking your product up. Being associated with more mature, more trustworthy and more bankable, as Vikram stands for in this case(at least in the Southern belt), is very important as it means your brand has higher chances of being picked up. For Raavan, Vikram being in a Telugu/Tamil movie as the hero translates to better turnouts in the audience and better reception and that is what Mani wants to do. Good move Mani.

Ice factory

Couldn't help but click this one. Found it on the notice board at Focus(one of the leading pharma distributors in Bangalore).

Have a nice day.

Am back

After many days of staying away from my blog, am back for good. Having been associated with the launch of Go Lite in Bangalore and Don't Bite Me in India, was on the road setting up the distribution and retail channel, which means handling a millions things and yet keeping cool.

Thanks to an excellent team that supports and stretches with a smile, it was a wonderful journey and we realize that it has just begun. You might find one of us on the field with Go Lite tees and blue jeans. If you find a Go Lite poster or leaflet when you walk in to a pharma store in Bangalore, you know who is behind it. And yes if you wanna lose weight, you got to Go Lite.

Don't Bite Me is all set to hit stores soon and you have it ready for the mosquito season, a new comprehensive, innovative solution to keep insects away from you and your family.

Lots of things learnt, lots more to learn, will keep posting regularly from now on. Hop on.

యీడు కూడా ఇంతే!

Mike mechanics is playing on my blackberry. I actually search for it and set it to repeat. You should listen to it too...

I didn`t know when I was lucky
Discontented feeling bad
Filled with envy
For possessions other people had

I found my pride had always hurt me
Fought the world to gain control
Not realising
I was sitting on a beach of gold

Oh lord I`m a poor man
With all the riches I can hold
I`m a beggar
And I`m sitting on a beach of gold

The problems I encountered
Gave me strength helped me sustain
To know the pleasure
First I had to cure the pain

When I was searching for solutions
I found the answer lay in me
I`m a drifter
But I`m drifting on a silver sea

Oh lord I`m a poor man
With all the riches I can hold
I`m a beggar
And I`m sitting on a beach of gold

I didn`t have courage
My life was as dark as night
When alone in the darkness
I saw the brightest light
Let the light shine down

Fruits anyone?

That's right. Was floored with the idea and the response. You would find this tela near Cubbon park, Bangalore. The placement is too good and so is the offering. A bowl of fresh cut fruits with a coat of salt and honey served for you for just 15 bucks. We were there around lunch time today and within 15 minutes saw some 100 plates being sold. Leaving the calculation in your good hands, let me speak about few learnings that you can take away.
  • Don't complain that there are no jobs
  • Food, health and education are evergreen
  • Place, price and positioning accentuate the offering
  • You don't need advertising if your product is good and you are reaching the target clientele
  • Never feel ashamed of what you do for a living
  • If there is a will, there is a .... (you know)
Next time you are around this place, go nuts... oops... go fruits!

Love you

Her heart beats for me, every moment. I am damn lucky to have someone like her in my life. We speak for over an hour every day and still have things to speak about the next time the mobile rings. The discussion moves from a dress to something that happened on the way to the new window we want to make in the house and so on. Her being a good listener and yours truly being an ardent speaker matches perfectly. She is never tired, even if she is, never bored even if she is, never angry, even if she is and never hurt, even if she is. What else can you expect from any one? Thank you Mom for being there, always and caring, loving. Love you.

Spare the rod

When the risk is high, you get to take things seriously. When the risk is not so compelling why should you? Now I know why Bible says about sparing the rod in Proverbs chapters 22, 23 and 29. The need to be firm on few things is often necessary even with adults. What makes you learn things in the childhood is the fear of failure. The fear that you would be an outcast, a left behind and a walkover is what pushes you to read and learn things in a certain way. Not that you need to learn everything but to learn it fast, quick and in such a way that you are ahead of you peers. Not that goes missing in your life when you reach a certain stage when everything is fine and you don't feel motivated rather compelled to do certain things. I have seen that to be motivated to do certain things in life, you need to realize the high risk associated with not doing. This is a case of high involvement and corresponding loyalty with the same.

To make consumers realize that they need your product, you need to tell them what they are risking. This gets more tough when the competition is high and especially when the need isn't realized. Picking up habits is even more tough after a certain age. Linking that to a loss might help. Especially if that is something substantially threatening. Vaccination advertisements use this to great success. Fuel price rise speculation ensures beeline to all the outlets. Think about it.

As a marketer I would make you see the need, if not I always can go back to the cane.

Cozy code

I am back in Kozhikode from along trip to Bangalore and life is back on track. Somethings don't change. Back to the same office, friends and food. Went to Top Form and had Kerala rice, prawns fry and drank hot water and it is a refreshing experience. A drive on the beach, long walk with your fleeters being washed by the waves in the cold of the night after a particularly hot day cannot be explained in words and confined to a blog post. Kerala is rightly called God's own country.

At Top Form we had a different experience. The place is serving since 1975 and is one of the prominent places in Kozhikode for Biryani and other seafood. The furniture was what attracted me most. Colonial type chairs and tables with nice finish was interesting invite. Though it was Wednesday and not supposedly the rush hour, the place was full of people and we had to wait a long time to have a seat. The delay was worth it as we tasted friend prawns being served in utmost relish, piping hot and sizzling. If you are in Kozhikode, you got to try this place.

I retire back to my den at night after the long walk and life is back to normal. I miss few things but then life goes on.

Built for hunting

Go right! Stop! You are going too fast! There is a bus ahead of you. Watch out!

Have you ever faced this from your pillion rider? My guess is you would have. If you have, then you would have explained that you have been driving for a long time and that you know all these things happen but the anxiety of the rider behind you is not relieved. You end up doing the same thing when some one else is driving and you are in the back seat. It is human tendency to comment and suggest. What is the solution? Is there an explanation for this?

Well here it is.

MEN are generally better than women on tests of spatial ability, such as mentally rotating an object through three dimensions or finding their way around in a new environment. But a new study suggests that under some circumstances a woman’s way of navigating is probably more efficient.

The theory is that the male strategy is the most useful for hunting prey; chasing an antelope, say, would mean running a long way over a winding route. But having killed his prey, the hunter would want to make a beeline for home rather than retrace his steps exactly. Women, by contrast, would be better off remembering landmarks and retracing the paths to the most productive patches of plants.

The research suggests that in certain circumstances women are better at navigating than men. Which might lend some comfort to a man desperately searching for an item in a supermarket while his exasperated wife methodically moves around the aisles filling the shopping trolley. He is simply not cut out for the job, evolutionarily speaking.

Want a simple explanation? Give him sometime and see how he drives. Either he would slow down(when you are riding with him) or you would get used to it. What say guys?

Meticulously thoughtoutness

The problem with too much thinking is that there is no action involved. Mere thinking isn't going to take to you anywhere. I am talking about plans we make in daily life and how they change with time and how we settle for something or should I call conclude and finalize. The reason I am quoting this is because thinking of loopholes and what usually happens is that you would end up with things that tell you why you shouldn't be doing it.

While it is good to think, it is equally important to put things on paper in to practice, be it in life or at work. One of the people I pay attention keeps telling me, nothing works like clockwork and it is true. Many things happen and come up when you set out to implement plans that seem water tight and sure to happen.

What is the point in telling me all your plans when you don't even step out and do something in that direction. Leave all ifs and buts and actually get out and do something. Being lazy and finding excuses has become a fashion these days. Don't be one of these this May.

What is life without risk? But isn't it foolish to sit down and relax, waiting for some miracle to happen yet unwilling to take the risk. Can I hear some ayes?

Setting base

Am in the process of setting up base for two excellent products(Go Lite and Don't Bite Me) and let me tell you am enjoying to the core. Traveling in hot summer sun on the streets of Bangalore, meeting businessmen, consumers, retailers, understanding psyche and tricks of the trade real time and keeping myself ahead is an awesome experience. Drained, parched and too tired to do anything else by the time I reach my abode, too exhausted to come online and blog and hence the delay in the posts. Thank you for coming back to the blog. Will try to be more frequent from now on.

The summer rains in the evening come as a pleasant blessing. Last night it was drizzling and after a particularly long day, couldn't resist so went out for a walk. After the invigorating walk, could get out and do more today. Fitness has become more of a relaxing technique than just getting back to shape these days. You should try this too. When stressed, go for a walk, a long one.

99.9%

What is 99.9%?

99.9% is when...
  • You almost comprehend
  • Follow most of what should be followed
  • Do things half heartedly
  • You are just 10 minutes late
  • You pretend
  • You compromise
  • Accept what is half-right
What 99.9% is not?
  • 99.9% is not 100%
99.9% is not acceptable.

Save power?

When you are reading this you are consuming power. Power that can be used for several other purposes. Thousands of people out there sit in air conditioned offices, drive in cars fitted with temperature conditioning agents that help you feel better. All this to ensure you are saved from the burnt of the sun and feel cool. Saving power, hitting a high note while talking about reducing the carbon footprints has become a fashion these days. More so when a company that supplies air conditioning in your office and home speaks about it. You know which brand I am talking about.

While the ad campaign speaks about saving power while using the ac as it has to be used and reducing your power bill, the total message is lost as n one cares about it. Now I am aware that the brand is aware of what it is doing and that it doesn't expect its audience to walk out in the sun and ensure there is proper ventilation to save power but in being different from the brands and maintaining a we care for you message helps it stay out of the regular messages that come and hit you and are lost. When I go out to get my house air conditioned, I would definitely remember the brand. There is your marketing greens well spent.

Well, there is a power cut and the ac is turned off. Save power?

Tendya

Time Magazine's quote on Sachin covers what we all feel.

"When Sachin Tendulkar travelled to Pakistan to face one of the finest bowling attacks ever assembled in cricket, Michael Schumacher was yet to race a F1 car, Lance Armstrong had never been to the Tour de France, Diego Maradona was still the captain of a world champion Argentina team, Pete Sampras had never won a Grand Slam. When Tendulkar embarked on a glorious career taming Imran and company, Roger Federer was a name unheard of; Lionel Messi was in his nappies, Usain Bolt was an unknown kid in the Jamaican backwaters. The Berlin Wall was still intact, USSR was one big, big country, Dr Manmohan Singh was yet to "open" the Nehruvian economy. It seems while Time was having his toll on every individual on the face of this planet, he excused one man. Time stands frozen in front of Sachin Tendulkar. We have had champions, we have had legends, but we have never had another Sachin Tendulkar and we never will.”

Happy Birthday Tendya.

I'll Go On Loving You

Alan Jackson's song is on repeat on my lappie.

When I look into your soft green eyes
....
I'm reminded what I feel for youAlign Center
Then I'll go on loving you
I'll go on loving you
I'll go on loving you

Me in the rain or the wind
Or the moon up in the sky
The spin of the earth or the change of the tide
I don't know what brought us together
What strange forces of nature
Conspire to construct the present
From the past

Then I'll go on loving you
I'll go on loving you
I'll go on loving you

Genelia overdose

Genelia, Asin, Deepika and Dhoni. All face it. Watching few IPL matches on the small screen has exposed me to an overdose of the celebrities mentioned above. Too many advertisements and brand endorsements confuse the consumer with the association of the celebrity and the brand behind it. Brands should be clear about what they are trying to get the consmer remember after watching the communication. Information being given out should be consistent and not at all confusing. All the money spent on Genelia, Asin and others in the company goes waste on me and other consumers like me as none of the brands appeal to me or do I remember any of them.

Every brand that is advertising in this manner is running a risk of going over the consumer's head. The only ads that stand apart are the zoo zoos and Limca ones which seem to stand out and register. Mere celebrity association isn't taking your brand anywhere. Check which ones would stand out and how you can register your brand in the consumer's mind space. That's marketing greens well spent or else it is going down the drain. What say you?

Am humbled by the response. Let me start by thanking God Almighty for his blessing. My Mom and Dad deserve a special mention at this juncture for their love, perseverance and motivation all through... Thanks for driving the importance of being well read and humble. But for you.. this means nothing. My friends who are J and making others J, thank you. For all the wonderful institutes, luminous faculty, authors, books and so on.. thank you. As I said, am humbled.

Book review: My Life Story

Take a look at the stark realities of life. Changes that happen too quick, too real, too direct but aren't seen or observed in the first glance. How much weight can a human soul carry and still manage to be normal? Can someone handle more than a tragedy and emerge a winner. Do you call the person a winner or a survivor? What could be the difference? How would it be to sit next to the person, take a walk with them in life, listen to them share, to relate to what happened, step by step, minute by minute... just letting the survivor tell you what happened? Well... then you got to read Arti Honrao's book My Life Story!

Arti's use of first person style in story telling keeps you engrossed and ensures you go through emotional twists and turns Kavya faces in her life, her decisions, changes explaining beautifully how quick life changes with decisions that you take and how it could hurt you. In just over a hundred pages Arti manages to tell you a story that would shake your senses and make you feel sad, betrayed, search for love, pain and grief and Kavya's life is amazingly made beautiful with a ray of hope, a path set for the future. My Life Story is too close to life that it can be described as raw. In a story that otherwise is dark and sad, Arti tells you how to have a positive look at life, how to search for the silver lining in the clouds that otherwise threaten to drown you in sorrow.

What made me like the book is the charm with which the story is dealt with, the characters come alive, each presenting a strong appeal, tied up with their personal problems, written so beautifully that you sympathize rather than being judgmental about it. My Life Story makes an excellent read as it explores the meaning of relationships, family, explanation of life. Grab some coffee on a cold evening and get ready to go on a walk down the memory lane as Kavya takes you through her life.

Congratulations and Keep writing Arti. Cheers!

Arrack in the afternoon

Reviewing a book is a tricky thing. The trickiness deepens when you know the author! However, here is a book that needs mention. Arrack in the Afternoon is a novel by Mathew Vincent Menacherry and Mathew has done a good job for a debutant.

Mixing Mumbai, bollywood, business, politicians, godmen, sex, pimps and the unwavering partner - alcohol, Mathew cooks up a heady concoction that stares you right in the eye. The novel explores the life of Verghese Konnikara from the verge of a suicide to a powerful god man till it comes to a full circle. How people fall to opportunities, ignore what they values in life, change over time making the wrong choices only to realize that what they wanted and set out for was different is covered beautifully. The expletives used in the novel make it look real and conversational. Each character is described too well that you feel you know the person like your neighbor.

The protagonist, Varghese, is an average guy with extraordinary dreams, passions acts as a perfect fit to Karan, who I would call a transformer or a good marketer and changes him into a god man, Vargi baba. Mathew takes us through a journey from the streets of Mumbai to the palaces, king-size rooms, beds, cars, money, glitter and shows how vulnerable people are and how the sadness and emptiness in life is covered up with things we call pleasures. Not to give away too much about the story, it is worth a read and kept aside, much better to watch on the screen and then go back to reading it. Arrack exposes the dirty underbelly that is present but is tucked away behind money, fame, wealth and melancholy. Arrack can teach a lesson or two on the use of dark humor.

There are few things in the novel that could have been avoided. Like the repetitive mention of few words and detailed explanation. You would enjoy the details if you have an eye for it and would actually see the plot play before you. Though a bit lengthy, Vargi baba would keep you engrossed while quite a few characters in the novel would remind you of the real ones. An excellent plot for the celluloid, am waiting. Good luck Mat.

Monday blues: CREATE

Creating something out of nothing is stimulating. Very few choose this way. I have seen how deeply engrossed it can be while you are at it. You sit down for hours, engaged, indulging in the creative process. Creating stuff is a relief. A piece of art created, built not just for now but for the future. Something that you have helped build growing up in to a masterpiece that would be admired, looked up to is a relief. An empty canvass coupled with unexplored domain of endless possibilities makes the journey exciting.

This monday, create something that would stand for long. At least start one that would be remembered. While few friends are embarking on such a journey, here are my best wishes. God bless with abundance. Good luck and Cheers!

Water business

The fast-growing market for packaged water, which at present stands at Rs 2,400 crore, has tough competition. There are about 2000 brands that operate in the market supplying bottled water! This calculation doesn't take into account numerous unbranded sachets, duplicate brands, etc. that are sold in most areas. Customers are duped most of the time as there is a similar looking product on the shelf that is offered at the original price while the actual brand might be more costlier. Piracy in water! What next?

BTW, I personally prefer quenching my thirst with tender coconut water which is the world's safest natural soft drink. So this summer ensure that you hydrate yourself, keeping your mind, body and soul invigorated.

More than functional

Whoever concocted this delusional idea of connecting on a physical level is enough in a relationship is not completely right. Eventually the emotional connect is what matters as the physical wears off. Am talking about friendships, relationships, etc. Once the initial glittery sheen is worn off it just matters to see how soon it breaks and the dream crumbles. What is sought is more than physical, in other terms, emotional.

Let me explain.

When you buy a product, you expect the physical need primarily(agreed this isn't the case sometimes, but mostly, yes) and the expectation is limited to the functionality or physical fulfillment. But in order to pick up the product again from the retail shelf the brand needs to ensure this: Delight in terms of the functional need or pitch emotionally to make the consumer connect his psyche to the appeal of the product. Better are the ones that gets passed on both counts. With the competition being rough, the need to connect emotionally and relate to the consumer is very important.

Going back to relationships, what holds is one that is more intellectual than functional. Ain't it?

Monday blues: Iced lemon freeze

Missed my Monday blues post last week as was too tied up. So here we go.

Iced lemon freeze at CCD is the best to cool yourself on a hot summer eve, especially if you have been in the field the whole day. Melting ice diluting the essence while the lemon peel adds to the grace of the drink soothes the body while quenching thirst.

Why can't communication be like this? Adding flavor to the discussion while retaining the essence, diluting the tension? Why can't communication be used to build relationships? Why can't official day-to-day communication include things which care about people? Try and see if your team responds better when you add a personal tinge to your communication. After all you are talking to people and not just numbers.

Happy woman's day

Put on the groovy music DJ! Grab those glasses ladies and gentlemen. Time to celebrate. 20% off for all ladies out there. Today is Woman's Day!

Yes, go on and celebrate. You are doing a good job. Schools, colleges, work places, streets, shopping malls, pubs.. add whatever you want to this list. Everywhere there is a mood to celebrate and self congratulate for what a great thing it is to be a woman. If portraying a charming figment of imagination on this occasion is what is required, then you have the right to celebrate. So go on.

If you actually think about what is happening around, behind those doors, cubicles and in the dark corners of your mind, knock on that door and enter. Here is a dark but true confessional explanation that we should be looking at. Women are misused, shamelessly. Most of the infanticides are because the baby is a is going to be a woman! Most places you aren't allowed to go, most positions you aren't allowed to fill in, most things you can't do because you are a woman. Mothers, wives, sisters, colleagues, daughters, no we don't have a discrimination here when you go right out and sarcastically mock. All around the world you go and preach sermons and make statements of being chivalrous while in reality you are a chauvinist and a biased to the core. Lemme tell you something, first get that bill passed, for if you don't, it means nothing to the womenfolk. But it shows you are scared. You are held up to the wall that your hard-earned male domination is threatened in a fold that is supposed to be the men's area of expertise! Go on and grin to the flashes of press cameras and tell that you are all out for the woman's reservation bill and freedom while at heart all you want it to hold her to a string and control lest not she professes her own ideals which might damage your male ego.

First learn to respect the women around you. Then you have the right to grin. Watching shameless politicians creating a ruckus in the house made me sick. If there are women at their houses, kick them out. These are the ones, us the educated folk, have elected. Or did we choose them deliberately as this is exactly what we wanted to happen? Is this a reflection of our inane fears and wishes? Is this a mere representation of what the democratic opinion of the country is? Illiteracy, poor health, low income levels are some evils camouflaged in those smirks that try and push the fairer sex to oblivious dark dungeons of society. Don't get it? Flick on few buttons on your remote and see what our so called swamis/godmen are doing?

So do we actually need a woman's day? Oh yes, after all we need to assure them that apart from being suppressed and downtrodden, you are a celebrated item, a rare breed of disappearing species that has already lost a voice, opinion, choice and what not. So enjoy today and celebrate being a woman, for the rest 365 days aren't yours. These are the same folks that need a mother's day to remind them they have a mother.

Ha... stop this nonsense, go on DJ.. start that B grade item song from some Bollywood chart-buster, oh yes, remember that new small time supposedly 18+ model that was drenched in artificial rain grooving to some fast paced music that the director has made her to survive to suit your male ego and you watch with gaping mouth. Celebrate guys and go back to your drinks and happy times believing you are doing something special for woman's day. Congratulations! Now go back and be the same for the rest of the year till this occasion of false celebration comes up next year and you put on that same mask and dance to the false tune like the cobra does to the sway of the snake charmer's pipe forgetting that its mouth is sewn. Does it make any sense to you? Nope. Did I tell you to down more shots? DJ increase the music, these folks are actually THINKING! Oh! Did I forget to wish you a happy woman's day?

CP is blogging!

After years of making us wait, one of the very few people I respect, a good mentor and friend, Prof. Chowdari Prasad has decided to oblige the blogosphere. Interested in some real stuff? Not the polished, sale-able material that attracts but stuff that makes you think? You got to visit his blog. Welcome Prof, to the addiction.

Pass the bill

I posted this about 14 months ago, and is still relevant.

Right from Yashoda who managed to bring up the naughty little Krishna and Balarama to Kunthi who was the God mother for all the Pandavas in their struggle to cleanse the world from evil Kauravas to the modern day Indira Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Mayawati, Rabri Devi, Jayalalitha, Brinda Karat, from Oneke Obavva, Jhansi Lakshmi Bai to the modern day Kalawati who dug a pond on her own and figured in Rahul Gandhi’s speech, Kiran Majumdar Shaw, Shehnaz Hussain, Vinita Bali, Kalpana Morparia, Chanda Kochar, Medha Patkar to Mother Theresa: women have proved that entrepreneurship is not only a mans word. Women have handled tough situations with equal and sometimes better ease. What keeps it going in India? Are we celebrating few success stories or is the system wrong?

If sanity exists in politicians, pass the women's bill. It is pending since ages.

A deep thought

Monday blues: Let's Forgive

This Monday, let's FORGIVE...

Life is all about the choices we make.

Today, make a choice between taking a revenge on some one who had hurt you badly and forgiving the same to make both the lives to be in peace. The later, my friends, works wonders. Just give a try.

Can't say I love you?

Can't say I love you directly? Now Dial ****** on your mobile and download love quotes! Subscription Rs.5/Quote.

This is the flash message I got today on my DOCOMO number. Please someone help me say I love you. The sick part is that there is a TV commercial featuring similar content! This is being telecast on prime time.

These messages come even after I entered my number in the DND list. Every day I get a call from an automated service to subscribe to some hellotune or the other. Happens to you too? I can stand the irritation to an extent as long as your pulse billing doesn't accelerate mine.

My question is, are there someone in the whole mobile user universe that still depend on some stupid mobile sms quotes that go around for expressing love, invest in stocks, buy stuff that might change my fortune? If yes, I sympathise with you. You should try talking in your own terms, not depend on some mobile quotes. If no, welcome to the club. Mobile operators should take a cue and send the sms' or flash messages only to those that care and respond. If I don't care, please DND. May be you should try your luck at something like the Jaago and Jeeto.

If You Come Today
