Keep your mask on

[If you feel the tone of this post is strong, skip the last para]

I am sure you would have faced this. You spend time together, talk and do things together and after a point think you know the other person in and out. Usually after this point your confidence and trust on the other person has reached such a state that small aberrations would skip being noticed and even if they are, they wouldn't matter much to you. But you think you know someone until you find out things that scare you. Some people are so good at acting, tricking and cheating that if there is a doctoral certification, they would be eligible for honorary bestowing. Ever heard of wolf in sheepskin? Well there are too many phonies in sheepskin around and I hate that.

Does this mean I am asking you to doubt everyone and everything? The answer would be no, a firm NO. But shouldn't you be careful? You can act most of the time but somewhere your real attitude would come out and you are busted. You can't fool all the people all the time. The best thing is to stay what you are. If you hate it so much, think of how you could change. Pretending as someone else and showing off a false attitude wouldn't help you for long. There would be temporary gains and fun but the aftermath is usually worse.

How would you handle this? Especially when you see the actual colors of someone you trust come out before you? Depends on how important the other person is for you and how long you could cope with that. How would I handle this? Hmmm... lemme see... There would never even be a question of the person being important or not, close or not. Better keep your mask on or be far away. Really really far away.

Down the mask? Or

All the followers of Fake IPL Player are waiting to know who is behind it. The posts have been anonymous and have given juicy tit-bits from what happens in the dressing room to what each of the players think. Now that IPLT20 is approaching its finale all the readers expect the owner of this blog to reveal his identity to them as he promised. Now he has put up a poll to check if the readers wanted him to reveal his identity or not. The results as of now are given below.

Yes, stick to your word man

23139 (64%)
Yes, I'd like to see your ass kicked

1334 (3%)
No, let it remain a mystery

4400 (12%)
No, I fear for your safety

1906 (5%)
No, I want this to continue

2471 (6%)
Who cares a f**k?

2579 (7%)
Vote on this poll
Votes so far: 35829 Vote before 16/05/09

What happens when the author reveals his identity? A few options...
  • IPLT20 career surely would come to an end
  • Possibility of law suits from KKR management, friends
  • Become an outcast from parties, circles
  • Lose credibility, trust
  • Lose readers, followers
The biggest loss would be the lack of thrill in guessing who the author is. The whole concept was built around the mystery about the author. Once this is revealed boom goes your substance.

Another interesting thing about this is how readers of this blog responded about the question in point. Almost 67% voted for revelation. Knowing that this would doom his career and chances (if he is a player). It seems no body cares what happens. Exhibiting crowd behaviour its fun to watch the show as long as I am not involved. After all its your call. Lets see what he does.

Plagiarism is my birth right

In the battle between Hari Puttar vs Harry Potter, the former wins, at least in the Indian Legal system. In what appears to be a cheap copy of what the original Harry Potter. The film's producers defended the name against the Warner Bros' stating the name 'Hari Puttar' means 'Son of God!' I salute the logic behind the judgment. Just see the pic and you will understand how close they are.

Is this all we can do? Can't we be creative enough? A nation of 1 billion people, extremely good story tellers (when you make up excuses to skip work, cover up failure, etc.) and we wait till some hollywood movie releases and scoop it down sometimes frame to frame and the dialogues verbatim! Most of the Indian directors are brought to court for plagiarism! Some of the movies look so cheap that you feel how can a director be so stupid when he is cpoying!

Itwofs.com has a good collection of the songs and a host of directors who are accused. It provides the list of the original and the fakes. Most of these directors are of great repute! Many cases have been filed, accusation made, many out-of-court settlements have been done. But we continue to happily lift works from other musicians, poets, painters, artists and pass them as our own.

Students copy in the exams, adults copy from colleagues, Professors copy from research scholars, supervisors plagiarize subordinate's work and pass it as their own and what not! Pathetic effort to stay ahead and fake a race. You can fool some people all the time, all people for some time but not all people all the time.

Better change and try something original, even if it is the stupidest thing on the planet. At least you are being original.

RFID to stop fake tickets at Beijing Olympics

According to Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, a total of more than 16 million tickets embedded with RFID chips will be used during the Beijing Olympic Games and this is the first time that RFID has ever been used for the Olympic Games.

Developed by Tsinghua University and Beijing Tsinghua Tongfang Microelectronics Company, the RFID chip features a minimum size of 0.3 square millimeter and 50 microns in thickness. It can be embedded into paper and can be used to identify goods from about five meters away.Due to its high tech features, it is difficult for the chip to be fabricated, hence it effectively also prevents the occurrence of fake door tickets and simplifies the ticket checking procedure. In addition, the chip reportedly has a good memory on such information as when and where a ticket holder buys the ticket and where the holder's seat is located.
