Detaining the King? You got to pay.

I seriously do not understand why there is a lot of fuss when someone gets checked at the airport. Dr. Kalam graciously brushed the topic aside and so should SRK. Sharukh might be the king of bollywood but instead of creating a buzz around him being checked and questioned he should make it an example and cooperate. To an extent I have to agree what SRK is decent enough. In his shoes I would have made a lot more noise. But you should also remember that many less illustrious individuals with similar last names go through much more without any fuss.

On the other hand US or for that matter any airport officials should be considerate and check who is a threat and who is not. It is not the short term benefit but the long term relationships that is at stake. Lack of information in a country like US about SRK and Kalam is depressing and stupid. Like Farah said they should at least have Googled him. May be not everytime you check some one but when some one claims he is a VIP. Better they should come up with a list of whom to check and whom not to. You are not dealing with people but with sentiments here. A little more caution and warmth, as SRK put it, would have avoided the situation. They could have turned it to a delight had they recognized him and ushered him out.

"What is the purpose of your visit to US?
What is your name again? Hmmm your passport show you are a frequent visitor!
Wait a minute... I know you... HEY ITS SHARUKH!"

This would have made SRK's day and brought in many roses instead of brickbats they are facing now. What an example they would have set and PR! What an opportunity missed!

Try gifts n retakes

KKR's journey at IPL 2.0 will be forgotten. The sooner, the better. What happened this year? What can they lean from this experience?
  • You don't mess with Captaincy at the last moment
  • Unlike movies there is no retake on the field
  • Cricket is a team game
  • All games have heavy odds
  • Selling a Brand is different from making runs, taking wickets and catches
  • Too many cooks spoil the broth. Ditto for captains(at least for now)
Few positives:
  • KKR still is the best brand at IPL 2.0 with its brand value at $42.1 million
  • KKR Reebok Jersey still sells most
  • Great time to show the proven marketer in SRK
How is the future for KKR then? Sometimes your best efforts fail. SRK has to face the wrath from many quarters. Disgruntled fans, team members, sponsors, etc. Good luck SRK.

Scraf it

I couldn’t help but notice this new trend amongst celebrity styles. I wanted to know what fashion critics think of this new trend of wearing mufflers during the hot Indian summers as a fashion statement. Being the superstar that he is, SRK can really influence people’s wardrobes.

Most of the anchors on the small screen are sporting these mufflers as if they had been operated nd were wearing a sling too. Let me know what you think?

SRK, the ISI brand of success

The team of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is delighted with grand opening. Released on Dec 12, ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ has grossed approximately Rs. 60Crores worldwide releasing 1200 prints. The most sensational fact is that the film has surpassed Dhoom-2 that was regarded as one of highest collections of all times. ET reports that the movie was a complete Sharukh show and hence the expectations of the audience post the Mumbai terror attacks were high enough to pull the crowds. He has some strong marketeers working for him to keep the charisma going.

The film sees SRK playing Surinder Sahni (Suri) a regular office-going guy, who lives a quiet life and married a girl Taani (Anuksha Sharma proves to be a good find), who had just lost the guy she wanted to marry. Obviously, she doesn't love him. But he does, and decides to win her with an alter ego called Raj.

Yes, Raj is back!

But this Raj is totally unlike DDLJ's Raj, who would never run away with the girl. This Raj is all for running away. He is Taani's dance partner in a musical competition she participates in, by day and her husband Suri by night!

In DDLJ, Pardes and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, SRK was stealing the other guy's girl. In this one, he is stealing her from himself!

Sharukh is one of the few over used personalities on the TV and the big screen and yet remain a luring success. Many wrote him off when he started endorsing multiple brands and yet he managed to survive and kindle interest in the consumer. He callshimself an ISI mark on a product. Must be when the vehicle is credible the product it offers has similar effect on it too.

RBDJ

When I was waiting to see him romancing his lead in the snow filled mountains of Swiss country-side, Shahrukh is seen wearing a faded shirt, with a bad pair of trousers and completely awful shoes... probably his worst on-screen look till date. But we do know that he's got another dashing look in the movie which I can't wait to see. 12th December is the date of release.

Meet Pragjyoti Samal

Pragjyoti Samal, a 24-year-old computer engineer from Bhubaneshwar, Orissa, is the first person to win Rs one crore on Star Plus' Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain.

Answering to the question: Do you think your lifestyle will change now?

She said, " I don't think so. I am a simple person. When we used to hangout with friends, we would think twice before going to Cafe Coffee Day. Now, that will not be the case.

When I returned to Bhubaneswar from Kolkata, my train got cancelled due to heavy rains. I spent the whole night on the platform. The next day, it was cancelled again but I waited for the train. If it is urgent, I travel by flight but if I have the time, I will not spend money unnecessarily."

Blogging on compulsion!

When Amitabh introduced bell bottom trousers the nation followed him. He danced they too did. He cried on screen they wept. He sang they partied.
When he blogged, same reaction! God knows how much Bigadda is paying him per blog!
What seems to be a fun activity is becoming a compulsion for many stars to take time out and blog their mind out. Aamir, Salman, Shobaa and God knows who will be the next. But I can tell you Sharukh will be the last to join the bandwagon. Why? He loves to let others fight and then kill the winner :) So keep watching...

The other side of blogging is that you get a chance to interact with your favorite star without any cost, effort or hurdle. When this gains importance in the long run all the tabliods with 'exclusive' will fail to sell as the audience will be able to see through the cooked up stuff while they get the pure stuff from the blogs.

The result: Good for the ppl, stars. Bad for the magazines.
