Jagan CM

Odarpu (Consolation) yatra? Bypassing high command's orders. Amassing the wronged child and garnering support on YSR's legacy. You are good Jagan but the fact is you are late. Having been in politicking for a long time all the politicians are very scared and worried about the fact that Jagan can pull up masses like his father did and people are still sympathizing about the way Jagan is being treated. The move to start assembly session didn't work out well for Rosaiah as he is being seen a leader who ried to pull away members of the house from attending te festivities in honor of the deceased CM. Jagan mulls up enough to get support from the people and many of the silent supporters who feel he deserves more. Well the fact remains that Jagan is too small for a party like congress which has been very patient in promoting the unquestionable heir of congress, Rahul, to the top and has always shown that he needs more exposure and experience under the so called 'mentors' and is expecting Jagan to do the same. Sad for them but Jagan doesn't seem to like the fact that he is being ignored and has reasoned that any delay further is pushing him away from the CM spot.

RIP Rajasekhara

Its painful to see someone you know die. More so if the death is unnatural. The whole state of AP across genres, parties and sections are mourning the untimely death of CM Y S Rajasekhara Reddy who died in a chopper crash yesterday. The clip of his family members crying will remain etched for long in our minds as the feeling of how feeble human life is and how stupid materialistic life can be crosses all our minds. This is a black day for all of us here.

A visionary and a people's leader as he is known and a well respected parliamentarian who in his trademark style became friendly to rural folks as well as corporates... YSR will be missed for long. He led the state of Ap to great heights, planned huge developmental projects, gave Arogya to the poor, walked a record 1400 kms and won not just the elections but also the hearts of people. With his trademark Ayya Adhyaksha made many pointers which sent opposition realing as well as handled many a pressure with ease. If there is a take away it is that though he was ignored for 20 yrs in a field where if you are not in news for a week you are outdated he came back with a vengance and is at present the most valuable asset for the UPA being in power. Consistency, hardwork, sincerity and patience are his decoration.

RIP Rajasekhara.

Who's the CM of AP?

Sridhar's cartoon on Eenadu has the right depiction. All the three main contenders to the post of CM of Andhra Pradesh are waiting for the results in a few hours. Dr. Rajasekhar Reddy of Congress is hoping to be voted back to power based on the good work he has done n the last tenure. His record and policies have touched the people. The greatest success should be the Arogyasree program which ensured thousands of people availing free treatment. Chandrababu Naidu of Telugu Desam Party, once called the CEO of AP, is playing the money exchange scheme and free color TV card and is hoping a chance at holding reins of the now economically sound state. Sentiments among most people is that he will do a good job in current recessional times as he has a proven record of creating jobs and giving the IT coating to Hyderabad and AP. Chiranjeevi or Megastar, as he is known, of Praja Rajyam is playing on samajikanyayam card by which he wants to establish a common good in the state with equal opportunities to all segments. His appeal is to give him one chance to replicate what he does best on the screen. Bash up bad people and help the poor.

I spoke to few people as to whom they voted for and got diverse reviews and opinions. The sentiment is not that anti incumbent but the figures are expected to point towards a hung verdict. So whoever succeeds in making an alliance would be the CM. This shows the divide of mandate and opinion. Consumer choice of the public servant (s)he would like to choose is divided. Lets see how the new comer Chiru would fare.

Noise

Being at home has its own advantages. You got someone who ensures you eat, sleep and wake up at the right time. I also had the chance to watch TV and local channels. I hate to say this but all over only one topic was prominent: Elections.

More than concentrating on how to get your votes and tell voters why should some one vote for your party each of these parties in AP are eagerly trying to prove others wrong. Most of the ads were directed to prove how stupid were the offers of the other party and how their party would should and must be the best choice. Congress party had ads targeting at TDP and ridiculing how stupid was the free color TV offer and money distribution schemes? TDP's ads were aimed at proving how Congress encouraged corruption? and couldn't do what could have been done? Chiranjeevi's PRP was aimed at his charisma and asking people to give him a chance! TRS was playing the Telangana song again.

Among all this clutter and clever subtle double entendre filled jabs at each other they forgot the basic rule of communication. Its not about you stupid. Its about me and my vote! What would I get if I vote for you? What can you do for me if I choose to select you as a public servant. You may spend crores of rupees but I would vote only for someone who would be eligible and not because you had a great ad and promotional campaign on TV or Internet. You should have been here long time ago.. for the last 5 years.

Lessons from Chiru

Shift the focus!

Though his fans were expecting that he would launch the party on his birthday, he preferred to do it on the birth anniversary of Mother Teresa.

The actor told his maiden press conference on Sunday that he was inspired by Mother Teresa, who dedicated her life to serve the needy.

Chiru, who has been acting in films for 30 years, was already engaged in social service and runs a blood and eye bank here. As he dons a new role, his fans are eagerly waiting to see him as the next Andhra Pradesh chief minister.
